Thanksgiving Goodness!
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. I love all the food and the family time!!
Here’s what the Friedman family nommed on this year:
Delicious, moist turkey.
I made homemade giblet gravy! It was DELICIOUS!
Gotta have something healthy in there…
Perfect, buttery mashed potatoes.
Crescent rolls! My favorite!
Cranberry sauce.
Wash it all down with...

Birthday at Beretta
If you didn’t already know, it was my Birthday last week! Yay! My dad flew into town and, man, did we eat. Thursday night (my Birthday Eve), we ventured to the Mission and dined at Beretta.
This contemporary Italian comfort food was absolutely outstanding. To start, we ordered meatballs in spicy tomato sauce, gnocchi with fresh porcini & smoked pancetta, bruschette of crescenza &...

Homecooked Hannukah
I love Hanukkah. And no, it’s not just for the gifts (although those are nice, too). It’s really for the food. Hanukkah, much like many other Jewish holidays, is centered largely on meals and traditional food. So, when I realized that I was going to be away from my family this Hanukkah, I decided I’d take on the traditional Hanukkah meal myself. I recently purchased a Crock...
Thanksgiving/Housewarming Feast
As many of you may know, Casi (and her boyfriend Greg) recently moved into a swanky new apartment in SOMA. To celebrate the move, Casi decided to through a little soiree with her nearest and dearest San Francisco friends. So, we planned. We created a nifty little Google Doc and prepared the menu (complete with links to recipes). And boy was everything delicious! Here’s a glimpse into our...

Bubbie's Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cake
I recently attended a small dinner party where I was asked to bring dessert. I’ve been watching my “girlish figure” lately, so I wanted to prepare something that was equally as healthy as it was delicious (not sure this qualifies, but it was worth a shot). I instantly thought of my Bubbie’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake that we eat during the Holiday season. There’s...

Breakfast heaven at Dottie's True Blue Cafe
I’m a breakfast lover. I could probably eat breakfast foods all three meals, every day. But this? This tops all I’ve ever eaten. This is absolutely one of the most sought after breakfast eateries in the city of San Francisco. I mean, even Guy Fieri ate here and his experience aired on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network. Yeah. It’s that good. That being said (and...
Darling it's better, under the sea!
I am a huge seafood fan. I love pretty much anything that comes from below sea level — but with one caveat: I prefer it to not be cooked. I’m not necessarily talking about sushi (although I do have a deep, deep infatuation with sushi). I’m talking about cold seafood. You know, like oysters and lobster and crablegs and shrimp served in a large bucket of ice. Like this:

Out the Door and Into the Sun
At least one day a week we tear ourselves away from our computers (where we gchat with each other all day) and meet for lunch, coffee, or a quick hug.
This week was a special one because there was sun! That’s right, the blazing hot yellow ball in the sky us San Franciscans hardly ever see (which is why we are so pale) graced us with its presence! Another bonus to the warmth was the $25 gift card...

Like a kid in a candy store.
I’ve always loved candy stores. The moment I walk in I feel like a little kid again — gumdrops, jelly beans, chewy fruit tarts, sour worms, chocolate decadence, and most of all, the caramel apples. They’re all enticing and fragrant and…heavenly. This was my first time in a candy store in quite some time. I try to resist the sweet temptations, but this one drew me in. The...

Spinach and Cheddar "Frittata"
Hi, my name is Lauren, and I’m a breakfast-aholic. I’m always looking for new and fun ways to make breakfast so I can eat it at any time throughout the day. For me, this happens best when the meal isn’t sweet (although pancakes for dinner is an all-time favorite). I discovered a recipe for this Spinach and Cheddar Frittata, and decided to make it “single-friendly”...
