Breakfast heaven at Dottie’s True Blue Cafe

I’m a breakfast lover. I could probably eat breakfast foods all three meals, every day. But this? This tops all I’ve ever eaten. This is absolutely one of the most sought after breakfast eateries in the city of San Francisco. I mean, even Guy Fieri ate here and his experience aired on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network. Yeah. It’s that good. That being said (and understood), you can imagine how long the line gets in order to dine at Dottie’s. It’s a small restaurant — seats 40 people. This means, after the restaurant opens at 7:30am, it fills up real quick.

But man, is it worth it. Dottie’s bakes all of their pastries in-house. And you can tell. They are delectably divine. Rich, moist, full of flavor. We started with the Black Plum Crumb Cake (their crumb cakes and coffee cakes are to die for). It was topped with a dollop of homemade whipped cream.

They have a board of specials that change every so often. The specials are a little funky, like lamb, fennel, and veggie omelets (that are the size of your head) are ever-changing and always awesome. I ordered the whole-wheat cinnamon and ginger pancakes. And they were unreal. Served with pure maple syrup, this was the perfect choice.

Dottie’s is a true gem in the Tenderloin. It’s a go-to restaurant when you have visitors. Heck, it’s a go-to restaurant when you’re all by yourself (in fact, singles get sat a lot quicker than bigger parties).
